A new Arabic Original titled ‘Dollar’ will release on Netflix next month
‘Dollar’, a new Arabic drama original, will be coming to Netflix on August 8. The 15-episode series will star Lebanese actor and comedian Adel Karam and Algerian actress Amal Bouchoucha as the leads.
With subtitles in over 20 languages, this show is being directed by Syrian director Samer Berkawi, who has previously worked on the hit TV show ‘Al Hayba’, especially popular during Ramadan in recent years. The story of ‘Dollar’ will showcase an advertising professional called Tarek (Karam), who is asked to come up with a million-dollar idea for a new bank.
“I’m truly excited to be working with Netflix on our new series Dollar and am confident that the show will appeal to Netflix’s audiences worldwide,” said director Berkawi. “This project is an exciting one, bringing together themes of suspense and drama that showcase Amal Bouchoucha’s on-screen talents, as well as Adel Karam’s versatility beyond the comedy that he is known and loved for.”
The first Arab comedian to be granted a Netflix special titled ‘Adel Karam: Live From Beirut’, Karam is most popular for his satirical style of comedy. He was also the lead actor in the Oscar-nominated film, ‘The Insult’.
‘Dollar’ will follow the other Arabic originals that are currently streaming on Netflix such as ‘Jinn’, and the upcoming book adaptation of ‘Paranormal’.
