Abu Dhabi holds book-signings for five Emirati authors
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) will take part in the 37th edition of Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), which is being held from October 31 to November 10, at Sharjah Expo Centre under the theme ‘A Tale of Letters’.
DCT Abu Dhabi’s participation at SIBF enhances its role in promoting the culture of quality, and highlights Emirati national identity and heritage by showcasing its pioneering cultural projects, its authored and translated publications, and the latest developments related to the 29th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF).
The pavilion will feature a variety of the DCT Abu Dhabi’s flagship publications, including those by the Kalima Project, which translates the latest and most important titles from various languages into Arabic.
The pavilion will also feature Dar Al Kutub publications, including ‘The Orient Pioneers’ series, which spreads the literature of European trips to the Orient, in addition to a set of specialised titles by local and Arab researchers and translated works on various subjects.
The DCT Abu Dhabi programme at SIBF will feature book-signings of the new publications of five Emirati writers; ‘I Will Forget You a Little’ by Amina Abdullah Alkhayyat, ‘Dates Trade in the Arabian Gulf Emirates 1914-1939’ by Khawla Al Alili, ‘Sawt Al Rashad’ (Sound of Guidance) by Ghaya Al Dhaheri, ‘Water Enlightenment: A Listening Journey Through the Stream of Human Imagination in the UAE’ by Lulwa Al Mansouri, and ‘That Which No One Will Believe’ by Basima Younis.
Additionally, DCT Abu Dhabi’s programme will fetaure reading sessions for children, including reading stories such as ‘The Goldfish’, ‘The Gipsy Panda’, ‘Waterman and The Fountain’, and ‘Pompom Finds a Friend’.
