212 VIP Rosé Extra Eau de Parfum (for her) and 212 VIP Black Extra Eau de Parfum (for him), the two new 212 VIP limited editions, take inspiration from the most modern version of voguing as they celebrate an explosion of authenticity and uniqueness with two opulent, extravagant and mesmerizing scents to feel extra. These fragrances, which have been designed to make us shine, excel and be the soul of every single party, have the power to awaken our wild, creative persona. The motto Why be basic when you can be EXTRA!” and the hashtags #BEEXTRA and #OWNTHEPARTY are meant to convey this empowering message. PRESS RELEASE 2
Voguing, which emerged in the 70s in New York and strutted into the mainstream in the early 90s with the music video for Madonna’s Vogue, lives on nowadays through new parties, clubs and competitions. 212 VIP EXTRA pays tribute to the energy, strength and union deployed by this spectacular dance best known for its stylish and fierce movements.
212 VIP Rosé Extra Eau de Parfum (for her) and 212 VIP Black Extra Eau de Parfum (for him) invite us to step into a magical voguing party where everything is possible. 212 VIP Rosé Extra Eau de Parfum conjures festive glamour: this refined scent cleanses, styles and cheers up. The top is an energetic rush of Cherry Liquor, Litchi and Italian Mandarin, an optimistic blend. The strong character of the Bitter Almond huddles with the irreverence of the floral bouquet made by Peony and Orris Concrete at the heart. The “extra” touch can be found at the base: an intoxicating mix of Queenwood, Vanilla from Madagascar and Tonka Bean that exudes security and sensuality. The perfumers of this Oriental Floral are Émilie Coppermann and Alienor Massenet.
The daring, bold and elegant 212 VIP Black Extra Limited Edition Eau de Parfum is conceived to make us shine. Open it up and revel in the cheerful audacity of Rum & Cola and Grapefruit, the top notes. Heart notes of Lavender, Black Leather and Moss lend the fragrance elegance and freshness. Its secret lies at the base, where the sweet darkness of Cocoa and Musk intertwine: this alluring duo is our VIP pass to every party. Juliette Karagueuzoglou and Carlos Benaim are the perfumers of this Gourmand Fougère.
212 VIP EXTRA enhances your mood: “Its formula envelops in a stylish olfactory dance and instantly sublimates. Duality is determinant: Cherry Liquor (Rosé) and Cocoa (Black) find their balance when blended with Bitter Almond (Rosé) and Lavender (Black). This combination is as elegant and magnetic as voguing”, describes Carolina Herrera de Baez, creative director of the perfumes.
The bottles are the extra version of 212 VIP Rosé and 212 VIP Black (released in 2014). The ultra-feminine silhouette of 212 VIP Rosé Extra Eau de Parfum is inspired in the iconic capsule 212 (1997) and its color changes from bright pink to glittery pink. 212 VIP Black Extra Eau de Parfum takes after the monolithic shape of its predecessor. This new version has a different color gradation in metallized tones. The packaging of both perfumes reveal the festive and urban soul of the perfume.
A STYLISH CELEBRATION The reinterpretation of voguing, which has blossomed again thanks to the boom of social media, offers the possibility of celebrating uniqueness and individuality. Carolina Herrera witnessed and experienced its golden age, the 80s – she founded her brand in 1981 in New York–, and she has more in common with voguing than a place and a date. They both value attitude and celebrate difference. The designer, portrayed by Andy Warhol in the 70’s, transcended the New York scene of the time and was able to see beyond the glamorous and explosive surface of places like Studio 54; she was able to appreciate and get inspiration from its artistic energy. “Style has to be individual, you can’t acquire it. Style is defined by the way you put things together. It is defined by your taste in art, in literature and in music. It is in the way you talk”. ¿Is there something more extra than to exhibit identity with pride? In the Carolina Herrera universe, as in voguing, personality comes first: “I do not believe in trends: they make everybody look the same: it’s like a uniform. Possessing the most fashionable bag does not mean you are in. You have to have your own style, your personal style, the stamp of it”. Just as Carolina Herrera, the balls, voguing competitions and gatherings honor personality.
Voguing, fashion and perfumes are capable of revealing our true nature. In fashion, persistence, dedication and inspiration are determinant for success. “Behind every line, there is a lot of energy and work. You put a lot of yourself in every show”, says Carolina Herrera. When the entrepreneur debuted in 1981, not everybody thought she would thrive in the savage world of Seventh Avenue. The press, for instance, was skeptical. Her remarkable first show convinced them all and quickly earned her credibility.
The same happens in the balls’ circuit: unknown voguers can triumph if they put a lot of work, discipline and creativity into their craft. 212 VIP EXTRA pays homage to that artistic explosion.
G 212: THE POWER OF THE COMMUNITY A charismatic team of influential personalities in the fashion, music and art world surrounds again Carolina Herrera de Baez, creative director of fragrances, in the launch of 212 VIP EXTRA. The leaders of the Gang 212 are the models and influencers Cameron Dallas, Hailey Baldwin and Taylor Hill (images of 212 VIP since 2017).
Hailey Baldwin is a trendsetter and an influential model. She is the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin and the niece of fellow actor Alec Baldwin. Top model Taylor Hill has appeared on the front covers and in editorials of the most famous fashion magazines in the world.
Cameron Dallas, a viral phenomenon with more than 21 million followers in Instagram, became famous for his comedy videos on Vine and YouTube. Dallas, also a model, has played in several films (Expelled, The Outfield) and has his own Netflix show (Chasing Cameron). The video of the campaign has been shot in New York by the Mexican duo Santiago and Mauricio.
The original soundtrack has been composed by the Martinez Brothers, two famous producers and DJ’s from New York, who are also part of the Gang 212. A team of professional voguers completes the crew. 212 VIP EXTRA celebrates the power of the community with the Gang 212 and the motto Own the Party. When the leaders of 212 VIP EXTRA get together, their energetic charisma is enhanced: union makes strength. “Success demands counting on a dedicated and creative team”, Carolina Herrera says. Voguing shares the same spirit. Voguers belong to families, not by blood ties, but by friendship, and they compete in balls this way. 212 VIP Rosé Extra Eau de Parfum and 212 VIP Black Extra Eau de Parfum are two exclusive editions whose objective is to repeat the 212 VIP saga’s success.
