CEO of Etihad ESCO, Ali Al Jassim’s Statement on International Women’s Day 2019
“International Women’s Day, which falls on March 8 every year, is a very special occasion to remember and celebrate the achievements made by women in social, economic, cultural and political dimensions, in addition to raising awareness about increased gender parity worldwide. We at Etihad ESCO and TAQATI are proud to have aligned our efforts with this year’s theme #BalanceforBetter. Comprising roughly half the world’s population, the complete inclusion of women in all fields of the society is vital to ensuring the best utilization of the largest pool of talent, knowledge and skills to drive a nation’s progress. Women today account for 30 per cent of the total workforce at Etihad ESCO and TAQATI and continue to contribute significantly to our successes in the field of energy savings.
As we all know, energy efficiency is playing an increasingly primary role in shaping the future development of our country. In tandem with the progress made in other fields, women play a predominant role in the energy sector as well. Innovation, the only way for the energy sector to improve productivity and scale new heights, requires diversity. The active participation of women in ideation and execution of projects enables us to benefit from a wide range of views and perspectives. Furthermore, the UAE has achieved gender balance, and women are actively involved in all technical and professional capacities across government and private sectors, advancing the country’s development. Etihad ESCO and TAQATI remain firmly committed to ensuring more opportunities to women by providing them with a platform to further develop and advance their skill sets and expertise.”
