DCT Abu Dhabi Closes Special Book Fair Themed ‘Seize The Day By Reading’
From 2 to 23 December the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi’s Kalima Translation Project held a special book fair at Al Wahda Mall to celebrate the winter break, under the theme ‘‘Seize The Day By Reading’’. The fair offered 25% discounts on the complete collection of works by the Kalima Translation Project and Esdarat.
The book fair focused on the Arabic language as an essential but underappreciated element in the translation process, highlighting both its rich vocabulary and heritage, as well as the large number of Arabic speakers globally who are eager to read the largest collection of world-renowned works in their mother tongue.
“This event was part of the Kalima Translation Project’s mission to promote Arabic culture while furthering community education. We aim to revive the translation movement in the Arab world, and compensate for the shortage of rare and unique books translated into Arabic,” said Abdulla Majid Al Ali, Acting Executive Director of the National Library Sector at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.
He added, “By ensuring that translated books are available to all members of the community, DCT Abu Dhabi aims to promote intercultural dialogue and tolerance. The fair also provided an opportunity to introduce readers to our most important publications in all fields.”
