DCT and ADNEC Senior Management Attend Global CEO Summit
The senior management team of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) has concluded a visit to London for the UFI Global CEO Summit (GCS) 2019.
The invitation-only Global CEO Summit is the most exclusive event organised by the UFI, a global association that represents the world’s leading tradeshow organisers and fairground owners, the major national and international exhibition associations, as well as selected partners of the exhibition industry. The UFI directly represents about 50,000 exhibition industry employees globally, and also works closely with its 52 national and regional associations’ members. Some 783 member organisations in 88 countries and regions around the world are presently signed up as members.
HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, Undersecretary of DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “GCS presented a unique knowledge-sharing opportunity. Although this was an exciting prospect, the atmosphere was very relaxed and not overly charged, which was a welcome change from some of the conferences and events we attend as it created a truly conducive environment for the exchange of opinions among decision makers from all over the globe.”
This year’s Global CEO Summit aimed to serve as the exhibition industry’s annual curtain- raiser event for the most senior executives globally, with equivalents from international exhibition organisers and venue operators in attendance. The summit offered top-level content, dialogues and ideas sharing between these senior executives. The 2019 edition took place from 30 January to 1 February, at the ME Hotel in the heart of London, UK. More than 100 organisations were scheduled to attend, including ADNEC, Brussels Expo, Hamburg Messe, Zagreb Fair, the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre and the Singapore Tourism Board.
Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Group CEO of ADNEC, said: “This event presents a great opportunity to promote Abu Dhabi as the ideal business tourism destination in our region. GCS never disappoints when it comes to addressing the industry’s issues. It also gave us the chance to hear from your peers about the ways they deal with the challenges our sector faces and solutions they are implementing or planning to implement at their facilities.”
For DCT Abu Dhabi, the purpose of attending this year’s GCS was to signal Abu Dhabi’s commitment to growing the exhibitions industry in the UAE. As such, senior management from both DCT Abu Dhabi’s Convention Bureau and Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) were present to help attract global event organisers to the UAE’s capital.
