The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has announced the launch of the sixth edition of the Creative Reader Competition, with registration now open for the public until the end of November. Enrolment forms are available in all branches of Dar Al Kutub (National Library) across Abu Dhabi.
This competition aims to spread the culture of reading and a passion for knowledge among school students and members of society in general.
Abdulla Majid Al Ali, Acting Executive Director of the National Library Sector at DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “Since the competition’s launch six years ago, we have witnessed increased popularity of reading and literary habits amongst children and the public. This competition is one of the many initiatives that DCT Abu Dhabi is undertaking to ensure we create an intellectual and educated generation.”
“We are confident that this edition will further enhance the love for reading and knowledge among students, as it provides them the ideal opportunity to learn about other cultures and encourage them to innovate and share their creative ideas.” Al Ali added
Through this competition, DCT Abu Dhabi aims to encourage creativity by reading both English and Arabic books, while highlighting the imperative role of language as an intellectual and cultural incubator. Targeting students in cycle one and cycle two in both government and private schools, the competition also focuses on enriching the literary scene, spreading cultural and societal values, and nurturing creativity and imagination to foster community development.
The contest will begin from 1st November 2018 and will take place until 28th February 2019. For more information please visit https://library.dctabudhabi.ae
