Letitia Gallery first participation to BEIRUT ART FAIR 2018
Letitia Gallery is delighted to announce their participation in the BEIRUT ART FAIR (20 – 23 September, Hall 3, Seaside Arena, Beirut New Waterfront).
A Beirut-based gallery, Letitia is dedicated to facilitating engagement with contemporary art in Lebanon through exhibitions of emerging and established artists, across disciplines and regions.
For their first year at the fair, Letitia will present works by artists who have featured in their 2018 exhibition program, including paintings taking inspiration from Lebanon by Eileen Cooper (b. 1953, United Kingdom), innovative new sculptures by Ahmed Badry (b. 1979, Egypt) and Nathaniel Rackowe (b. 1975, United Kingdom), and large-scale photographic works by Basir Mahmood (b. 1985, Pakistan), whose exhibition “Eyes Recently Seen” is currently on view until November 3rd, at Letitia Gallery in Hamra, Tour de Saroula Bldg.
Additionally, Letitia’s booth will premiere a selection of works by internationally emerging talent including Jad El Khoury (b. 1988, Lebanon), Ahmad El Sheikha (b. 1980, Syria), Alejandro Ospina (b. 1970, Colombia) and Mohammad Zaza (b. 1987, Syria).

Letitia Gallery has invited, from Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Roxane Zand, Deputy Chairman for the Middle East, and Dr. Iain Robertson, Head of Art Business Studies, to present two talks on Friday September 21, under the following topics:
- “The growth of the MENA and Asia art markets in recent times, addressing both boosts and challenges, with a view to the possible direction of its future” – from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at BEIRUT ART FAIR
- “The public role of private museums” – a look into the growth of different types of foundations and private institutions within the Middle East region – from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Dar El-Nimer (America Street, Clemenceau)

Letitia Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in Beirut focused on encouraging global engagement with contemporary art in Lebanon through the contextualisation of both local and international artists and their work in the global art environment. Under the direction of Annie Vartivarian, the gallery has a strong ethos of collaboration and has worked closely with leading international curators from around the world to work on a project-focused model that looks to nurture the growth of regional artists from the MENA region as well as showcasing international artists in Lebanon within a programme of four to five exhibitions a year. Letitia Gallery offers both local audiences and international visitors the opportunity to discover international artists and to gain a deeper understanding of the breadth of their practice through public programming that includes: talks, off-site projects, site-specific commissioning and supporting cultural initiatives in Lebanon and the region.
