Zahraa’s journey with Make-A-Wish Saudi Arabia towards hope

Make-A-Wish Foundation KSA fulfilled the wish of a child battling a critical condition. This mission aligns with the foundation’s dedication to bringing hope to children in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Zahraa is a gifted young artist who has spent the past year undergoing treatment for Congenital Muscular Dystrophy (CMD).  The condition affects her respiratory muscles and causes restrictive lung issues. She was kept on a mechanical ventilator for up to two years. Zahraa experienced severe lung restriction and respiratory function impairment, making her prone to recurrent chest infections.

Make-A-Wish Foundation KSA recently granted her the opportunity of a lifetime: to paint alongside a prominent regional artist.

Zahraa had enrolled in the “Basics of Portrait in Oils” program offered by Yasmine Al-Sabiha, an established artist and instructor. The course allowed Zahraa to pursue her passion for art and gave her the chance to learn from an expert. Despite her health complications, Zahraa is determined to take advantage of this opportunity and pursue her artistic goals, while receiving prompt treatment. Notably, Zahra’s artwork is also displayed at the hospital, as part of the hospital’s recognition of her artistic abilities.

Makarem Sobhi Batterjee, Chairman of Make-A-Wish Foundation, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stated: “Bringing joy into the lives of children is a true pleasure and honour for us. We are only just beginning our work, we hope to support more children like Zahraa to realise their dreams and bring them hope in such challenging times”

Make-A-Wish Foundation, a non-profit organisation founded in 1980, has gained worldwide recognition for offering life-changing experiences to children all over the world. The foundation recently launched in KSA through the Bait al Batterjee group with the aim of bringing joy and hope to sick children throughout the kingdom.
