Abu Dhabi Launches Innovative New Emirati Talent Selection and Placement Programme
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has launched a ground-breaking new programme for selecting and hiring Emirati talent into the workplace. The Emirati Talents programme was officially launched in November 2019 with a series of innovative events that engaged interested candidates in activities and workshops to identify the next generation of Emirati talent.
The programme is designed to asses four main qualities in applicants, namely: capability, creativity, community and empathy. The first batch of applicants applied through a dedicated portal based on five job clusters and their departments (Business Strategy Team, Project Management Team, Culture Team, Client Management Team, and Research and Analytics Team). After this, the applicants met with recruiters for preliminary interviews and underwent an Artificial Intelligence Video Interview, one of the latest practices of artificial intelligence in recruitment processes in the emirate.
The final candidates then took part in an activation event at Qasr Al Hosn on 9 December and at Qasr Al Watan on 10 December. These evaluation events ensured that the applicants’ performances and skills were aligned with Abu Dhabi strategy, and included presentations by DCT Abu Dhabi’s Talent Acquisition Team.
“The current approach to Emiratisation has tapped in to the talent we have in this country, but with new and exciting opportunities available within DCT Abu Dhabi, we are adopting a bold new strategy to further identify and attract the very best Emiratis available in the job market,” said HE Saood Al Hosani, Acting Undersecretary of DCT Abu Dhabi. “We have looked beyond traditional recruitment models and developed an innovative new programme, including the first ever use in the emirate of Artificial Intelligence for the recruitment process, which will identify and unlock new opportunities for Emiratis and for DCT Abu Dhabi.”
Following the appointment of the right candidates, the Emirati Talent programme enrols these new employees in the eight-week long Talent Accelerator Programme, which serves to equip them with the expertise and necessary knowledge to succeed in their careers at DCT Abu Dhabi or elsewhere, as well as preparing them to tackle any professional challenges or obstacles. This aligns with the UAE’s Future Foresight strategy.
