Abu Dhabi Secures 5-star Business Excellence Recognition
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has been awarded a remarkable five-star rating for business excellence after the entity was assessed by EFQM, a membership foundation based in Brussels dedicated to the promotion of business excellence.
The ‘Recognised for Excellence’ (R4E) Recognition Programme was confirmed after a four-day assessment process conducted at DCT Abu Dhabi’s Nation Towers offices this week, with the Department becoming only the third entity in Abu Dhabi to get 5 stars and the first one to get it on the first attempt.
The assessment was conducted by EFQM, a not-for-profit membership foundation in Brussels dedicated to promoting business excellence, with each of DCT Abu Dhabi’s departments individually appraised by assessors for procedural efficiency and effectiveness. After the rigorous interviews were completed, the EFQM team deliberated on the results before confirming DCT Abu Dhabi’s ‘tier one’ status, reflecting the Department’s commitment to high performance through best-practice management.
A five-star rating equates to an organisation which is ‘high performing’ and in which ‘change is managed’. It also means an entity has been found to ‘improve, refine and simplify the practices it uses to achieve its goals’ as well as ‘achieving results in line with its strategy’.
HE Nawal Al Hassani, Executive Director, Strategy and Planning Sector at DCT Abu Dhabi DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised by EFQM for our performance and our achievements – and especially to have become the first entity to achieve five-stars on its first attempt. As an organisation we are unrelenting in our pursuit of excellence, and as the assessments clearly identified, our investment in our employees as a powerful resource, is paying off impressively.
“And now, with this award, DCT Abu Dhabi is even better positioned as an employer of choice for potential employees from across the globe as we strive to showcase Abu Dhabi’s extraordinary offerings as a world-class leisure and cultural destination.”
EFQM was established in 1989 to increase the competitiveness of the European economy.
