Dubai Judicial Institute (DJI) launched the ‘Our Community Reads’ initiative, reiterating its dedication to fostering legal knowledge in society in line with the UAE’s Month of Reading and coinciding with the ‘Year of Community’. The initiative underscores DJI’s focus on motivating individuals to adopt reading to boost cultural awareness and promote a knowledge-driven society. It further reflects DJI’s belief that reading is the cornerstone of intellectual development, innovation, social growth, and cohesion.
The ’Our Community Reads’ initiative is designed to advance strategic objectives that align with DJI’s vision by fostering legal and judicial culture and encouraging reading through specialised books on law and judiciary. Furthermore, the initiative aims to cultivate a culture of continuous learning and establish reading as a habit among legal professionals, members of judiciary authorities, and those interested in law. By providing publications focused on integrity and justice in legal and judicial practice, the initiative seeks to enhance their skills and knowledge while strengthening ethical and legal values.
Additionally, the initiative includes a reading competition to promote reading habits and active involvement in cultural activities within the legal community. The competition will be held throughout the year, with four editions organised at the end of every quarter highlighting various national occasions. The first edition of the competition-themed ‘The Reading Law’ will be conducted at the end of March 2025, coinciding with the national Reading Month and the ‘Year of Community.’ The winners of each edition will receive a specially curated collection of DJI’s publications as prizes.
The ’Our Community Reads’ initiative signifies DJI’s dedication to facilitating access to legal knowledge resources and publications, empowering individuals with a better understanding of their rights and responsibilities. This initiative reflects DJI’s role as a leading institution in legal education and training, committed to boosting legal knowledge. By initiating various interactive activities, it reinforces social cohesion in alignment with the objectives of the ‘Year of Community’ and the UAE’s vision to become a global hub for thought, culture, and a benchmark for sustainable human-centred development.
