teamLab Borderless Jeddah: The First-Ever Middle East Location of the Record-Breaking Museum Comes to Jeddah Historic District, Saudi Arabia. Construction Underway for Completion

The Saudi Ministry of Culture and art collective teamLab are moving forward with the construction of a major new museum in Jeddah Historic District, teamLab Borderless Jeddah. Exhibiting over 50 experiential artworks created by teamLab using digital technology, teamLab Borderless Jeddah will be the first-ever permanent teamLab Borderless museum to launch in the Middle East. The immense museum is making steady progress in development towards completion.

Located in the Red Sea coastal city of Jeddah, teamLab Borderless Jeddah is being built on the shores of Alarbaeen Lagoon overlooking the panoramic views of Jeddah Historic District, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The museum is part of the Saudi Ministry of Culture mandate in the Jeddah Historic District’s revitalisation programme which seeks to preserve the historical and cultural urban centre as a vibrant cultural hub, reflecting the Kingdom’s diverse history and its innovative spirit.

teamLab Borderless is a world of artworks without boundaries, a museum without a map created by art collective teamLab. Artworks move out of rooms, communicate with other works, influence, and sometimes intermingle with each other with no boundaries, forming one borderless world. As people immerse their body in this borderless art, they ‘wander, explore, and discover’.

When teamLab Borderless first opened its doors in Tokyo in June 2018, the museum welcomed over 2.3 million annual visitors, and set the world record for the most visited museum by a single art group(*1). As a collaborative initiative between the Saudi Ministry of Culture and teamLab, the all-new teamLab Borderless Jeddah will become a part of the further development of a thriving cultural ecosystem in the Kingdom.
