Building Lebanon Through Sports: How Rami Bitar is Transforming Communities One Game at a Time

At the newly renovated Al Safa Sporting Club in Beirut, a group of teenagers practice football drills while Rami Bitar watches from the sidelines. As CEO of Capital Partners and Tawfeer International, Bitar has invested significantly in this facility and similar projects across Lebanon. These initiatives, he explains, are about much more than sports, they represent “the future of our communities.”

“It all started because of my son,” Bitar explains. “His passion for football opened my eyes to something bigger than just a game.”

As the CEO of Capital Partners and Tawfeer International, Bitar has built a reputation as one of Lebanon’s most successful business leaders. But these days, he is becoming equally known for his ambitious vision to revitalize Lebanese communities through sports development.

From Sideline Parent to Sports Visionary

What began as supporting his son’s football dreams transformed into a comprehensive philosophy about community building. “I was just another supportive dad at first,” Bitar recalls. “But I quickly realized that sports create something special in young people. It instills discipline, purpose, and teamwork, values that extend far beyond the playing field.”

That realization led to action. Today, Tawfeer’s youth development program provides free training to approximately 200 selected young people across Lebanon. The program doesn’t just focus on athletic skills, it incorporates nutrition education, physical wellness coaching, and character development.

Rebuilding Infrastructure, Rebuilding Hope

Bitar’s investments have gone beyond youth programs. At Al Safa Sporting Club, his funding has transformed aging facilities into state-of-the-art training grounds. The modern lounge, kitchen, gym, clinic, and padel court stand as concrete examples of his commitment to elevating standards in Lebanese sports.

This infrastructure development extends to Bitar’s other sporting investments. Tawfeer sponsors the Sagesse Basketball Team and Tadamon Sour Football Team, supports Nejmeh Football Club and the Homentmen Basketball team, has acquired a successful Futsal team that claimed victories in both the Lebanese Futsal Association Cup and League, and has invested in a third-division football club currently undergoing an ambitious restructuring with international coaching expertise.

Sports as Social Architecture

For Bitar, these investments aren’t just about producing better athletes or winning championships. They’re about something more fundamental: rebuilding Lebanon’s social fabric.

“In a country that has faced so many challenges, sports create common ground,” Bitar explains. “When these kids play together, differences fade away. They learn to trust each other, to solve problems together, to celebrate each other’s successes.”

This philosophy of sports as a social unifier is particularly relevant in Lebanon, a country marked by sectarian divisions and economic difficulties. Through his various initiatives, Bitar is creating spaces where young Lebanese can develop a shared identity based on teamwork and mutual respect.

Beyond the Field

Bitar’s vision extends beyond traditional sports development. His recent sponsorship of the Beauty and Wellbeing Forum, demonstrates his holistic approach to community wellness.

“Physical activity is just one aspect of wellbeing,” Bitar notes. “By connecting our sports programs with other wellness initiatives, we’re creating a more comprehensive approach to health that encompasses physical, mental, and social dimensions.”
