JWI promotes Benjamin Thomas to Creative Director

Independent creative marketing agency, JWI, has announced the promotion of BenThomas to Creative Director, marking a key development in the agency’s leadership team as it strengthens its position in the Middle East market.

Ben joined JWI in 2017 as the agency’s first in-house designer, part of a four-person setup but without a dedicated creative team in place. Over the past seven years, he has played a central role in building the agency’s creative capabilities – growing it from a one-person function to a multidisciplinary team, and helping to shape the bold, content-first work JWI is known for.

In his new role as Creative Director, Ben will lead JWI’s creative output – with a focus on bold, creatively brave and impactful work, fostering a culture of mentorship, and integrating the use of emerging technologies to elevate the agency’s ability to move faster, think smarter, and compete with the industry big players.

He now joins Charli Wright, Managing Director and owner, and Adele Baxter, Client Services Director, as part of JWI’s leadership team. The announcement follows Charli’s recent acquisition of the business, which she has led in the region for the past decade.

Charli Wright, Managing Director of JWI, said: “Ben has been a part of JWI in the Middle East from the very beginning – from being the only creative in the business to now leading a talented multidisciplinary team. This promotion reflects years of growth, hard lessons, and shared successes. Ben leads with vision, care, and creative integrity – always pushing for smarter, bolder work, while inspiring and mentoring others. I’m proud to have him driving the creative direction of JWI as we continue to innovate and lead in the region.”

Ben Thomas, Creative Director at JWI, said: “This promotion is a big moment for me, not just for the title, but for what it represents. I’ve grown with this agency from day one, and now I want to make sure others get that same opportunity.

“My focus is on pushing our creative work forward, mentoring the next generation of talent and keeping JWI original, intentional and bold. With the right people, the right culture, and now the right tools, I truly believe the best is yet to come.”

Now entering its tenth year in the Middle East, under Charli’s ownership, Ben’s creative leadership, and Adele’s client servicing expertise, the agency is well-positioned to become the region’s most progressive independent agency, with global ambitions.
