Qasr Al Muwaiji hosts Royal Bisht and the Archaeological Excavation workshops
As part of its commitment to promoting heritage and preserving rich traditions of the UAE, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has held ‘Royal Bisht’ and ‘Archaeological Excavation’ workshops at Qasr Al Muwaiji, the birthplace of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates.
The Royal Bisht workshop explored the exquisite bishts especially hand-tailored for Emirati rulers and adorned with various patterns of gold or silver thread with participants having the opportunity to try their hand at sewing while taking in the beauty of some stunning bishts currently on display at Qasr Al Muwaiji.
Meanwhile, Emirati archaeologists from DCT Abu Dhabi guided participants during the Archaeological Excavation workshop on how to work on an archaeological site using a simulated dig site.
The ongoing Royal Bisht workshop will be held every Tuesday until December 18th, 2018 while the Archaeological Excavation workshop will be held every Wednesday until December 26th, 2018.
The workshops are open to all and free to attend. For more information on upcoming events and the wider Al Ain Cultural Programme, please visit www.visitalain.ae.
