Leading Middle East healthcare provider receives major awards during the 44th IHF World Hospital Congress

Saudi German Health (SGH), the leading Middle East healthcare provider, continues to be recognized for its efforts in offering excellence in quality and patient safety. In the recently concluded International Hospital Federation (IHF) World Hospital Congress (WHC), Saudi German Hospital Cairo received Gold for the Dr. Kwang Tae Kim Grand Hospital Award while Saudi German Hospital Riyadh won Bronze for the Austco Excellence Award for Quality and Patient Safety, topping over more than 200 entries from 38 different countries.

SGH received these prestigious recognitions during a ceremony held on November 10, 2021 at Fira Montjuïc in Barcelona, Spain, in conjunction with the 44th IHF World Hospital Congress. The Congress convenes leaders and representatives of various healthcare institutions and organizations to discuss key trends and best practices in leadership, management, and service delivery.

The Dr. Kwang Tae Kim Grand Hospital Award gives recognition to a hospital or health service provider which has demonstrated exemplary and outstanding achievements in more than one, program, service, or project covering the areas of corporate social responsibility (CSR), healthcare leadership and management practices, sustainability initiatives, and quality and patient safety.

Meanwhile, the Austco Excellence Award for Quality & Safety and Patient-Centered Care, recognizes healthcare institutions that demonstrate outstanding achievements in promoting quality and safety, increasing patient education, engagement and empowerment, and fostering ethical and evidence-based practices in the industry.

Both categories are open to IHF members, non-members, and organizations from public and private health sector. Hundreds of entries were scored based on the following metrics: originality and innovativeness, intended impact, adaptability and scalability, scientific rigor, and clarity. An extensive review and evaluation of the entries were conducted by the Awards Committee, which was composed of healthcare leaders and experts from across the world.

Commenting on the award, Makarem Sobhi Batterjee, President and Executive Vice Chairman of Saudi German Health stated: “Part of the objectives of SGH’s recent transformation is to strengthen our position not just in the region, but also in the global landscape. The IHF Awards we received reaffirm our commitment in providing world-class, patient-centered healthcare services to various segments of society as we continue our legacy of transforming healthcare.”

The International Hospital Federation (IHF) Awards was launched in 2015 as a globally- recognized, awarding body to honor the best hospitals and healthcare organizations for their excellence, innovations, and outstanding achievements in the industry. The Group attributes the recent success to several factors including its quality-focused leadership, the hard work and commitment of its medical teams, and the innovations and initiatives implemented alongside the transformation phase.
