Tommy Hilfiger Introduces – Tommy Jeans Sport Tech Denim Capsule
TOMMY JEANS Sport Tech Denim was first launched in 1997. In the early nineties, buzz around the Tommy Hilfiger brand was building. Street cred came in the form of hip-hop artist Grand Puba, who name dropped Tommy in his hit song “360 (What Goes Around)”. Soon after big names such as Puff Daddy and Snoop Dogg began to request clothes. Aaliyah walked in the Vibe X Tommy Hilfiger fashion show and Tommy Jeans launched its first collection called Sport Tech Denim. The concept was simple but revolutionary: combine sport pieces in tech fabrics with streetstyle denim. The new line was an instant hit. The resulting look was bold, unisex and a complete disruption to popular fashion.
Inspired by the first ’97 collection of the same name, this is a celebration of the brand’s bold and colorful heritage, made with modern twists. The capsule boasts strong outdoor urban explorer vibes, showing an innovative mix of denim streetwear and sportive pieces in tech fabrics; the flag jacket is redone as a shell jacket – made in a special nylon with a denim look; a sporty polo shirt fleece features a geometric pattern with a ski- wear inspired look; a hoodie with a multitude of logo graphics comes in three colorways; meant to be paired in clashing colors, a matching sweat pant completes the look; A tee is designed with a multitude of placement prints; bringing the full palette together in one piece, a striped tee offers a colorful look; all-over patterns on accessories offer new takes on archival color combos. The color palette features navy, purple and aqua and is meant to be mixed and matched.
