UL Issues ECOLOGO® Certification To SHIELDme’s Eco-Friendly Hand Sanitizers
UL, a global independent safety science company, has granted its ECOLOGO® Certification to SHIELDme’s hand sanitizers for meeting the sustainability and health standards that reduce the environmental impact.
UL certified the product following a stringent and science-based certification process in accordance to UL 2794, the Standard for Disinfectants and Disinfectant Cleaners. UL’s team of experts tested the hand sanitizers for prohibited chemicals or hazardous solvents that could be harmful for human beings and animals.
The hand sanitizers are now available for purchase in all countries across the Middle East region.
As one of UL’s rigorous, multi-attribute and life-cycled-based sustainability certifications, ECOLOGO® Certification has become a recognized and trusted international third-party certification. The ECOLOGO® Certification is classified as an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Type 1 ecolabel and assessed by the Global Ecolabeling Network.
The ECOLOGO® Certification, which can help reduce environmental impact, is also available on a variety of products including sanitary and office papers, mobile phones and electronic equipment.
Hamid Syed, UL’s vice president and general manager in the Middle East, said: “As climate change becomes more important, a number of businesses and individuals are becoming more eco-friendly in how they function and live their daily lives.
“This is why the UL ECOLOGO® Certification program is integral for manufacturers, suppliers and purchasers, who are all eager to have sustainable products that are safer and healthier for the environment.
“With SHIELDme receiving the certification, it reaffirms the trust that UL has built and enables manufacturers to create better products in a more environmentally responsible way.”
Dr. Masood Almughanni, SHIELDme’s Factory Operations Director “This is a big milestone moment and we are extremely delighted that our hand sanitizers have received the ECOLOGO® Certification, especially as this comes at an important time where personal hygiene is even more important than before due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“People in the Middle East region can now use a certified hand sanitizer that is free from any alcohol and harmful chemicals and more importantly safe for human beings and the environment.”
