First Fujairah Horse Dressage Championship to kick off on 17 December 2023
The organising committee for the first Fujairah Horse Dressage Championship revealed that all preparations for the tournament are now complete, setting the stage for the event to kick off on 17 December 2023.
The championship is set to take place near the historic Fujairah Fort, with the goal of expanding and diversifying equestrian activities in the emirate, in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, to enhance interest in the sport, practiced in the UAE for generations, and bring it on par with the UAE’s progress and reputation across all sectors.
Ali Al Kaabi, Head of the Dressage Committee at the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation, and Director of the Fujairah Horse Dressage Championship, praised Fujairah’s significant efforts to promote equestrian sports by hosting distinguished competitions and events in the field. The inaugural Fujairah Horse Dressage Championship is a notable addition that reinforces the emirate’s status and presence in this domain,” he said.
“Horse riding holds a special place in the hearts of the Emirati people,” Al Kaabi added. “It is a deeply popular traditional sport that reflects values like belonging and authenticity, which we are committed to passing down to future generations. Horse dressage attracts riders across the country; it is an Olympic sport that offers a platform for them to demonstrate their mastery of the techniques, and compete to showcase their skills and abilities in horse training.”
