ISTITUTO MARANGONI CONTINUES TO INSPIRE AND GROW TALENTS IN DUBAI

Home to some of the most futuristic skyscrapers and glittering events of the season, Dubai has established itself as the fashion industry’s new hotspot. With Western high-end ready-to-wear and haute couture brands finding fertile ground and local labels on the rise, the reputed fashion and design school Istituto Marangoni Dubai, joined by first-class tutors from all over the world and local industry players, has turned into a powerful source of inspiration and a centre for prestigious career beginnings.

Istituto Marangoni Dubai focuses on talent development, evidenced by its invitation to Wes Gordon, Creative Director of Carolina Herrera, to visit and speak to the school’s students on the 9th October. Gordon discussed his career, everything fashion and creativity “from New York, to Dubai and beyond”. Around 60 young talents caught up with Gordon, who has been with the label since 2018, and has been growing and taking the helm of the company. He also spoke about the future of the fashion house and how he is continuing to uphold the legacy of the brand.

Istituto Marangoni is committed to playing an active role in the Middle East to encourage a new ecosystem of talent, institutions, stakeholders and industries. The Dubai Fashion Week took place, with a seven-day fashion event running in Dubai Design District from October 9 to 15, where guests gathered to witness designers from across the MENA region, Europe, Asia and the Americas plument their collections on the catwalk. Students had the chance to join the spectacular fashion shows, including the Spring Summer 2024 presentation from New York-based womenswear label Carolina Herrera , where live models were standing like sculptures in the room wearing looks from the collection.

Istituto Marangoni also stood out at Graduate Fashion Week, an international event that took place during Dubai Fashion Week, as the best designers from the Milan and London School, Retbirieka Kong and Hyun Jik Yoo, had the unique opportunity to showcase their collections in front of an international audience.

GFWi23 provides a platform for international talent to be seen and also serves as an avenue for important discussions about fashion education and the future of the industry. The event fostered inclusivity and respect for cultural perspectives within the fashion world. Director of Education of Istituto Marangoni Dubai, Elena Marinoni, took part in a panel talk at Graduate Fashion Week on “The Future of Fashion is Digital”. During this talk, Elena discussed how technology is driving innovation in design, sustainability, and creative expression, with rising opportunities for young tech-savvy fashion professionals. Moreover, Director of Education of Istituto Marangoni London, Abdullah Abo Milhim, contributed to a panel talk entitled “How to embed sustainability into the fashion industry”.

GFWi23 confirmed to be an unforgettable event that showcases the power of education and collaboration in fashion, with Istituto Marangoni leading the way.

While supporting students’ personal and professional growth, Istituto Marangoni Dubai has the mission to teach students to deal with the complex challenges of today’s fashion, art and design industries. A bridge between cultures, the school aims to promote local development and cultural diversity while inspiring next-gen talents, and offering young students a glimpse into the compelling future of fashion.
