Joe Azar… A Voice Igniting an Artistic Revolution to the Rhythm of the Lebanese Dabke

At a time when the sparkle of Lebanese folk music has dimmed, artist Joe Azar emerges as a unique artistic phenomenon, carrying the heritage on his shoulders while infusing it with a modern breath that resonates with the new generation.

Through his latest song, which blends folkloric rhythms with modern electronic styles, Joe aims to reintroduce the Lebanese Dabke in an innovative way. The song is one of his own compositions, lyrics by poet Joe Hanna, and arrangement by Ralf Melhem, is a carefully crafted artistic attempt to revive a nearly forgotten genre, but in a fresh style that restores its former brilliance.

Having previously collaborated with major figures like Elias Rahbani, Marcel Khalifeh, and Marwan Khoury, Joe aspires to create works that bring him together with stars like Nancy Ajram, Wael Kfoury, and Hussein Al Jasmi. He is also engaged in an elegant artistic collaboration with composer Salim Assaf, with whom he is preparing joint concerts in the near future.

His upcoming projects include three new songs slated for release between 2025 and early 2026, reflecting an artistic vision that balances preserving authenticity with embracing modernity.

It is worth noting that Joe Azar holds a Master’s degree in Musicology, has performed with major artists at prestigious international venues, and has received recognition from the Lebanese Ministry of Culture.
