Lebanon starts off the Basketball World Cup tournament with Spinneys

In light of the official collaboration with the Lebanese Basketball Federation, Spinneys extends its support to the local players participating in the 2023 Basketball World Cup and other tournaments and games throughout the year by holding together an exciting event at their Hazmieh branch that enticed the presence of many media reporters and basketball enthusiasts.

To reignite passion in the heart of Lebanese people, Spinneys transformed its outdoor terrain into a miniature Basketball court for the attendees to experience the World Cup before it takes place, and indulge in the excitement of this international tournament in hopes of empowering the champions to succeed in the game next month.

The attendees enjoyed the activities and entertainment held for the event amidst the dynamic sports atmosphere and thrilling songs dedicated to the team. Many got the chance to meet their favorite players and receive their autographs upon purchasing special jerseys found exclusively at Spinneys and other merch. The players also enjoyed meeting media reporters that will support their athletic journey by covering and broadcasting the game to all Lebanese homes, reinforcing a spirit of solidarity and belonging.

On this occasion, Hassan Ezzeldine, Chairman of the Gray Mackenzie Retail Group, thanked the attendees for boosting Lebanon’s name so high up. He also said: “The country has long awaited these joyful and historic moments where most of its children gather together and hope to put Lebanon back on the map of advanced nations and bring back the glory of local basketball. We are proud to support our national team through this meaningful partnership, and we wish our champions all the best.” He added: ”By hosting this event, we wanted to garner the support of Lebanese people so the players can draw positive energy and create a sense of determination whilst they play their game.”

Akram Halabi, President of the Lebanese Basketball Federation, spoke on behalf of the federation and the players, saying:” We thank Spinneys for supporting our champions, which we consider a tribute and appreciation for their efforts in representing Lebanon in the World Cup. At this stage, we are in need of support and encouragement from the Lebanese people to raise Lebanon’s name through our unity and to record new victories for Lebanese sports in history.”
