LG ELECTRONICS- Lebanon Branch CELEBRATES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY BY VOLUNTEERING FOR “A BETTER LIFE FOR ALL”

Under LG’s brand promise “Life’s Good”, and with the aim of creating a better life for all, LG declared World Environment Day (WED) as Global Volunteering Day and Participated globally through volunteering efforts across its global branch offices since 2010. Held first on the 5th of June in 1974, Eco Day consists of  raising awareness on environmental issues as marine pollutionoverpopulationglobal warmingsustainable development and wildlife crime. For almost five decades, World Environment Day has been raising awareness, supporting action, and driving changes for the environment by being  a global platform for public outreach, with participation of LG ESG by volunteering activities  suggested by each office across the world, fitting its community needs.

In association and with the support of Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (“LRI”), LG Electronics -Lebanon Branch took care of nature by organizing an eco-friendly social contribution activity day via a reforestation activity occurring on the 14th of June, where employees and management cooperated hand in hand to expand, manage, and protect Lebanon’s forests and biodiversity. Heading to LRI’s plants nursery located at Bologna, LG’s team voluntarily supported in     cleaning and clearing the plants nursery’s road to minimise erosion and sedimentation during the soil disturbance and avoid any fire incident, weeding by removing unwanted plants from the field, transplanting of cedars in order to avoid any root disturbance as much as possible, and trees adoption to support LRI’s Sannine reforestation project, which aims at creating a corridor through planting more seedlings that will reconnect Lebanese mountains all together .

The Vision of Lebanon Reforestation Initiative is to create and improve communities in Lebanon through sustainably managing their forests & landscapes for the benefit of the environment and their wellbeing, by making better humans which means better workers who are more responsible, respectful, reliable, honest, self-motivated, committed, credible, achiever, innovative, professional, integral, adaptable, accountable, ethical, apolitical, optimistic trustworthy and environmentally friendly. With that said, Sannine’s Reforestation Project started in 2018, and so far, with communities’ support, they’ve planted 14,647 cedars with an average survival rate of 78%. Now the call is still open to fulfill the need of 100,000 seedlings to reforest Sannine to bring back our cedar forests and create a bio corridor of “oxygen producers”.

LG Electronics thinks about the kind of impact a company should have on people, the earth, and next generation and accordingly suggests different ways to respect human beings and create a better environment with its 3C X 3D Strategies declared at the CES exhibition in 2023, insuring a “Better Life for All”. The impact on the planet could be achieved via Carbon neutrality and conversion to renewable energy, which is the plan for 2050, Circularity by recycling the waste and collecting and recycling the e-waste, and by using the Clean-Technology which develops energy-efficient products using eco-friendly materials. As for the impact on people, it is achievable by creating Decent Workplaces by ensuring supply chain safety, health, and labor rights, ensuring Diversity & Inclusion in companies by increasing recruitment for people with disabilities and foster more female recruits, and by improving product and service accessibility for all through the Design for All.  LG already started applying its 3C X 3D strategies through its upgradable appliances, heat pump technology, inverter DD motor, LG Oled TV, recycled packaging and more.

Eco awareness & good habits were motivated under “Life’s Good” with LG accompanied with “Optimism Your Feed” on Worlds Environment Day. During this day, LG Electronics Levant – Lebanon Branch team had lunch in a small local community restaurant, toasting this joyful event and cheering up to upcoming brighter ones.
